1. Introduction
ScootaZon (“we,” “our,” “us”) operates the website scootazon.com (the “Site”). ScootaZon is an Amazon affiliate catalog for electric scooters. We gather listings from Amazon and add filterable specifications that Amazon does not expose on its own product pages, including motor wattage, top speed, range, scooter weight, maximum rider weight, and price. Prices and star ratings shown here are re-checked automatically and are labeled with the time they were last checked.
This policy explains what the Site collects, why, and what happens to it. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Site.
2. What ScootaZon Does Not Do
It is clearer to start with what does not happen here, because it removes most of the usual privacy concerns:
- We do not sell, stock, ship, or service any product.
- We do not take payment. There are no active payment methods on this Site, and no order has ever been placed through it.
- We do not collect or store credit card numbers, bank details, or any other financial account information.
- We do not collect shipping addresses, and we do not handle returns, refunds, exchanges, or warranty claims.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
- We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or session recording tools on this Site.
When you buy a scooter, you buy it from Amazon, on Amazon’s website, under Amazon’s terms and Amazon’s privacy notice. We are never a party to that transaction.
3. Information We Collect
Information you give us. The Site has two forms, and both are optional:
- The contact form asks for your first name, last name, email address, a subject, and your message. Submitting it sends those details to the site operator by email and stores the submission in the Site’s database.
- The newsletter signup in the footer asks only for your email address, and sends it to the site operator by email.
Nothing else on the Site asks you for personal information. You do not need an account to browse or filter the catalog.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our web server keeps standard request logs, which record your IP address, browser and operating system, the pages you request, and the date and time. When you follow one of our affiliate links, we also record the product, the date and time, the page you came from, your browser’s identifying string, and a one-way scrambled form of your IP address that we cannot reverse. We use this only to count how many people click, never to identify anyone. The Site also sets a PHP session cookie (PHPSESSID) that supports basic page functionality and expires when you close your browser.
4. Analytics and Cookies
The Site uses the Google Site Kit plugin to connect these Google services:
- Google Analytics 4, which records aggregate visit data such as pages viewed, approximate location, referring site, and device type. Google Analytics sets its own cookies in your browser. Visitors who are logged in to the Site are excluded from this tracking.
- Google Search Console, which reports how the Site appears in Google search results. It does not track individual visitors.
- Google PageSpeed Insights, which measures page loading performance. It does not track individual visitors.
Google’s handling of that data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit using Google’s browser opt out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use this Site.
5. Amazon Affiliate Links
ScootaZon participates in the Amazon Associates Program. The links and buttons that take you to a product carry our affiliate tag. If you buy something after following one of them, Amazon may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you.
Following one of those links takes you to Amazon, where Amazon sets its own cookies and collects its own data under Amazon’s privacy notice rather than this one. Amazon reports commissions to us in aggregate. We do not learn who you are, what you bought, what you paid, or where it was delivered.
6. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Read and reply to messages sent through the contact form.
- Send email to people who asked for it by signing up in the footer form.
- Understand which pages and which scooters visitors find useful, so we can improve the catalog and the comparisons we write.
- Keep the Site working, secure, and reasonably fast.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
7. How Information Is Shared
- Service providers. Our web host and Google (for the services named in section 4) process data on our behalf as a normal part of running the Site.
- Legal obligations. We may disclose information where the law requires it, or where we believe it is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or investors.
8. Data Retention
Contact form submissions and newsletter signups stay in the Site’s database and in the operator’s email until they are deleted. Server request logs are kept and rotated by our host as part of normal server operation. Google keeps analytics data for the retention period configured in Google Analytics. Affiliate click records are deleted automatically after 400 days.
9. Your Choices and Your Rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Because we hold so little, what someone typed into one of our two forms and anonymous click counts we cannot trace back to a person, these requests are usually quick to handle.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We will honor those requests wherever you live. To make one, use the contact form and tell us which email address you used, so we can find your submission.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through one of our forms, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, and we keep the software it runs on updated. No website can promise perfect security. What limits the risk here is how little we hold: no payment data, no addresses, and no order history.
12. Links to Other Sites
Besides affiliate links to Amazon, the Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them your information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in how the Site works, or to meet legal requirements. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
14. Contact Us
Questions about this policy, or about information we hold, should go through the ScootaZon contact form.
